Visit Or Join the Listservs

Disability Without Abuse has assembled a huge array of resources that are routinely updated. To make those resources both searchable and accessible, we have organized  them into Listserv groups on a site called TopicBox. You do not have to join or subscribe to any of the groups to access the information - joining or subscribing will allow us to email you posts.

You can access them online anytime you want, without any charge or registration.

If you do want to join, you are most welcome to do so, in order to add your voice and wisdom to the discussions.

Visit the Listserv groups by clicking here.

All of the posts are word searchable, so that you can access the information you are seeking more easily.

This group will discuss human trafficking of people with disabilities. "In terms of the types of abuses we’re seeing, we’re seeing forced labor of persons with disabilities. We’re seeing commercial sexual exploitation of people with disabilities, both adults and children. We also see something that we refer to as sexual servitude as forced labor and what that is is that it’s non-commercial sexual abuse, but we consider that forced labor, as well as sexual violence and sexual assault. Anecdotally some of these cases have some of the most extreme physical violence and abuse that we’ve seen among human trafficking cases. We have hunches as to why, but, you know, we don’t have a firm answer as to why these cases are sometimes so horrible." https://mn.gov/web/prod/static/mnddc/live/human-trafficking/sarah-bessell.html

This group will address sexual, physical, and emotional abuse of people with disabilities in nursing homes and group homes. Caretaker abuse, prosecution strategies, and law enforcement involvement will also be discussed.
